Alemany principal Frank Ferry wins 'buzzer beater'
Mission Hills Alemany Principal Frank Ferry, known for showing up and rooting enthusiastically for his school's sports teams, had a squeaker victory of his own on Wednesday, when he won a City Council seat in Santa Clarita by 32 votes.
"Just like a buzzer beater, it still counts as a win," Ferry said.
Ferry led by 69 votes going into a count of remaining mail-in votes and provisional ballots and won a fourth term. It was the first time he ran while serving as principal of Alemany. Some people in the area didn't appreciate his school has been taking away athletes from the Santa Clarita Valley.
Ferry used to work at Saugus and Valencia.
Correction: In an earlier version, it was reported that Ferry won in a recount. It was a counting of remaining ballots.

Not only is he taking students from public to private school...what parent would say no to a better education. Also most of the employees at Alemany live in Santa Clarita area.

It wasnt a recount but the counting of the remaining mail-in votes that came in on the last day of the election as well as provisional ballots. No recounting took place.
