Girls’ basketball: St. Anthony trails big early

BAKERSFIELD--Could it happen? Could Northern California produce a girls’ team capable of beating its Southern California counterpart?

It’s starting to look that way in the Division V championship, with plucky Los Altos Hills Pinewood taking a 17-10 lead over St. Anthony early in the second quarter at Rabobank Arena.

The Panthers have already made three three-point baskets and are causing problems with tight defense and a spread-the-floor attack.
