Girls’ basketball: Serra leads Valley Christian 51-35

Through three quarters it’s top-seeded Gardena Serra with a comfortable 51-35 lead over Cerritos Valley Christian in the Division 5AA championship game.

The Cavaliers’ transition game is in top form and they repeatedly get easy baskets on layups and short jump shots. Megan Wright, Raven Gammage and Bria Richardson are inflicting much of the damage for Serra.

Kari Korver and Jelissa Holder have the bulk of the points for Valley Christian. Eight minutes remain and the Crusaders will have to work for better shots and step up their defensive intensity to pull off the upset.
