BAKERSFIELD--There were a few tears in the Long Beach Poly huddle after the Jackrabbits’ historic run of four consecutive state championships ended with a 55-42 loss to El Dorado Hills Oak Ridge in the Division I championship at Rabobank Arena.

Sara James scored 26 points for Oak Ridge, but it was her teammates who did most of the work in the second half as the Trojans pulled away. James scored 20 points in the first half.

A turnaround jumper by Poly’s Sheila Boykin pulled the Jackrabbits into a 40-40 tie early in the fourth quarter before Oak Ridge went on an 11-0 run amid a flurry of missed shots and turnovers by Poly.

Tajanae Winston scored 13 points for the Jackrabbits.
