Girls' basketball: Intriguing coaching matchup in Division V

March 20, 2010 | 12:46 pm

The coaching matchup in the Southern California Division V girls' final at Ontario Colony doesn't get much better than Bob Webb of Van Nuys Montclair Prep against James Anderson of Long Beach St. Anthony.

Webb has been coaching boys' and girls' basketball off and on at Montclair Prep since 1982. He has never reached a state championship game in girls' basketball even though he had a McDonald's All American in Shay Murphy in 2003.

Anderson is in his third year at St. Anthony after turning Harbor City Narbonne into a state girls' powerhouse. He left in 2006 after a dispute with the Narbonne administration.
