BAKERSFIELD--You know how Jim Carrey was fixated on the Number 23 in that oh-so-disappointing movie a few years back?

Well, Harvard-Westlake has a thing for 9-0. As in, the Wolverines have put together three different 9-0 runs in taking a 49-32 lead over Albany St. Mary’s going into the fourth quarter of their state Division IV championship Friday afternoon at Rabobank Arena.

The latest 9-0 run came at the beginning of the third quarter and put Harvard-Westlake firmly in control.

Senior forward Sydney Haydel has 19 points and senior forward Nicole Hung has 16 points for the Wolverines, who appear bound for their first state title. It’s hard to believe Harvard-Westlake actually trailed at the end of the first quarter of this game.
