Girls’ basketball: Division 6AA final set to tip off

The Southern Section Division 6AA girls’ basketball final between St. Bernard of Playa del Rey and Hillcrest Christian of Granada Hills is about to tip off at Colony High School in Ontario.

The top-seeded St. Bernard Vikings (19-13), under first-year coach Bo Corona, are on a seven-game winning streak led by junior center Destini French (15.4 points, 18 rebounds, 7 blocks per game) and freshman guard Angelica Laury (12.3 points per game).

The third-seeded Hillcrest Christian Eagles (17-8), coached by Debbie Haliday, have won five straight and counter with senior guard and captain Brittany Espinoza (9.3 points per game).
