Anaheim Servite, the defending Pac-5 Division football champion, signed a contract on Tuesday to play J.T. Curtis High School at Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans on Sept. 10.

The school has made 30 state title game appearances in 35 years in Louisiana.

Of course, that’s exactly the challenge that Coach Troy Thomas wants. He has put together another tough schedule that starts with a zero week game against Oceanside, which has a 39-game unbeaten streak and won the CIF state championship Division I bowl game last season.

In week two, the Friars play La Habra, followed by Huntington Beach Edison and Temecula Chaparral, not to mention playing another brutal Trinity League schedule.

No one will ever say Servite plays a weak schedule.
