Football: Max Wittek is hot QB recruit for 2011

Now that USC and UCLA have both offered scholarships, quarterback Max Wittek of Santa Ana Mater Dei can be labeled the top quarterback prospect from Southern California for 2011 _ at least until spring practice begins.

I still think there’s a possibility of others getting into the mix by the time spring and summer ends. The one prospect I’m looking forward to seeing in seven-on-seven competitions is Trevor Gretzky from Westlake Village Oaks Christian.

He’s got outstanding receivers to work with, and I have a suspicion that his athleticism and arm strength will create a buzz by September.

So Wittek had better not rest on the bandwagon effect, because others are about to join the competition.
