Steve Smith, a football-basketball standout at Woodland Hills Taft who went on to star at USC and become a top receiver with the New York Giants, is organizing a free basketball clinic for boys and girls from elementary school to high school that will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the gym at Birmingham High.

There will be guest speakers. Smith is hoping to give back to the community he grew up in by sponsoring clinics and travel teams.
