Boys’ basketball: Ross Branson 27, La Verne Lutheran 26

BAKERSFIELD _ Steals and baskets by Carl Cooper and Bruce English have pulled La Verne Lutheran to within 27-26 of Ross Branson after three quarters of the Division V championship game.

Lutheran trailed by as many as nine points in the quarter. The Trojans have started to be more aggressive, drawing seven fouls from Branson.

Branson’s only points of the quarter had been two free throws by Tyler Gaffney with 7:23 left until Marco Viti scored with 1:59 left.
