There are a lot of people who think the winner of Saturday’s Southern California Division I regional final between Santa Ana Mater Dei and Westchester is a cinch to win the state championship March 27 in Bakersfield.

Not so fast.

If Newark (29-4) is able to beat Concord De La Salle in the Northern California final, beware. Newark is an outstanding team and owns wins over Woodland Hills Taft and Los Angeles Price.
