Football: Coroner issues ruling on death of Hollywood High player

The Los Angeles County coroner has determined that 13-year-old Hollywood High football player Spencer Juarez died last fall from a "massive cerebral edema due to blunt head trauma." His death was ruled an accident.

Juarez, a freshman, collapsed during a freshman-sophomore game on Oct. 16 against Los Angeles West Adams. He died the next day.

Another football player who died last fall, Kevin Telles from Garden Grove, suffered myocarditis, an inflammation of his heart muscle, according to the Orange County coroner. He collapsed during a Sept. 11 game at Westminster.
