Boys' basketball: Washington advances to semifinals
For the first time since 1991, Los Angeles Washington has advanced to the City Section Division I semifinals after a 71-56 victory over Los Angeles Fairfax.
Junior guard Chris Brown took control in the fourth quarter for Washington (22-6), scoring eight of his 22 points.Stephen Dafney made five three-pointers and finished with 15 points.
Washington, seeded No. 4, will play top-seeded Westchester in Friday's semifinals at USC's Galen Center. Westchester defeated Fremont, 84-48. Woodland Hills Taft defeated Cleveland, 85-43, in another quarterfinal and will face Crenshaw in the other semifinal.
Fairfax (17-11) received 25 points from Jordan Weathers.
