Boys’ basketball: Nike Extravaganza has begun

The games are under way in the Nike Extravaganza at Santa Ana Mater Dei, with nine games scheduled.

In the opener, Max Alexis made seven of nine shots and finished with 16 points to lead Anaheim Servite past Westminster, 84-64. Richard Supan added 14 points and Wesley Adams 13.Villa Park routed San Juan Capistrano JSerra, 70-47. Andrew Selway made eight of 13 shots from three-point range and finished with 32 points for Villa Park. Shaquille Hunter added 19 points.

Ontario Colony defeated Bellflower St. John Bosco, 57-49, with Julian Caldwell making nine of 14 shots en route to a 21-point performance.

Los Alamitos knocked off Upland, 73-57. Haven Fielding scored 23 points and Camryn Crocker added 21 points.

Correction: It was James Walker who scored 23 points, not Haven Fielding.

Santa Margarita defeated Torrey Pines, 62-57. Brandon Blanchard broke a 56-56 tie with four consecutive free throws in the final 1:19. Wolfie Wood had 19 points and Blanchard 13. Nick Kerr, the son of former NBA player Steve Kerr, had 12 points for Torrey Pines.
