Boys' basketball: City Section has big games

February 22, 2010 | 11:33 am

The quarterfinal playoffs in City Section Division I on Wednesday take on added importance because the winners earn automatic spots in the state playoffs.

That means even though schools might lose in Friday's semifinals, they get to practice another week, and that's big for young players trying to develop.

Here's the Wednesday matchups: Fremont at Westchester, Fairfax at Washington, Cleveland at Taft, Birmingham at Crenshaw. Game time is 7 p.m.
