Long Beach Poly’s Thaddesia Southall participated in her first full-fledged practice yesterday since suffering a knee injury last July.

Coach Carl Buggs is exercising caution with the 6-foot-3 senior. He wants to see how her body responds to a week or two of practice before allowing her to play in a game situation.

‘She has a long future ahead of her and we’re not trying to rush her into anything,’ Buggs said.

Southall, who is headed to USC, averaged 10.7 points last season.

Long Beach Poly (9-2) has won four consecutive state titles and is the No. 4-ranked team in the nation, according to Maxpreps.
