Girls' basketball: Diamond Ranch gets the 'W'

Erica Greer scored 14 points to lead Diamond Ranch (16-2) to a 40-37 victory over Ventura (19-2) on Saturday night at the Ayala Extravaganza. Maddie Fahan had 12 points and nine rebounds for Ventura. 

Ventura trailed Diamond Ranch, 21-13, at halftime, then the Cougars outscored the Panthers 17-8 in the third quarter to take a 30-29 lead. 

The teams rallied back and forth during the fourth. The game was determined by free throws, Diamond Ranch converted 15 of 21 while Ventura was 4 for 16. 

In another game, Ariya Crook-Williamsscored 18 points to lead Long Beach Poly to a 62-57 win over Bell-Jeff.
