Football: Big names in mix for Santa Margarita job

January 21, 2010 |  8:03 am

There has to be lots of money being offered for the vacant position at Santa Margarita, because the Orange County Register is reporting that Mission Viejo's Bob Johnson, St. Margaret's Harry Welch and Lakewood's Thadd MacNeal have all interviewed for the position.

It's clear the private schools with coach openings are not settling for second-tier candidates. They want immediate turnarounds and immediate playoff participation. Talk about pressure.

I'm still betting on Welch as the winner in the competition.
