Boys’ basketball: Swoope commits to Miami

Harvard-Westlake forward Erik Swoope has committed to Miami, according to Wolverines Coach Greg Hilliard.

The Hurricanes had been Swoope’s No. 1 choice for some time, Hilliard said. Miami’s coaching staff came to Harvard-Westlake’s practice Saturday to watch the 6-foot-5 senior, who attended the Hurricanes’ game against Pepperdine on Sunday. Swoope gave his commitment immediately after the game.

‘Miami loves his athleticism, energy and leadership,’ Hilliard said. ‘They are comfortable with his ‘tweener’ size because they feel he is just simply a good basketball player.’
