Boys’ basketball: Events on tap for Monday

Pomona and Riverside will be the places to be for hoops fans on Monday, as Los Osos and King both will host showcase events.
The I Have A Dream Classic at Los Osos has a nine-game slate, featuring a pair of games between Times-ranked teams. #17 Los Alamitos takes on #20 Chino Hills at 2 p.m., and #19 Etiwanda plays #23 Santa Monica at 6:30 p.m.
The King Inland Invitational has four games on tap for Monday. The competing teams include Times’ #16 Chaparral and #18 Upland, as well as Nevada’s top-ranked team in Las Vegas Bishop Gorman.
The top two teams in the Southland, #1 Westchester and #2 Mater Dei, will both be in action Monday at the Hoophall Classic, at Springfield College in Springfield, Mass.
Westchester, faces Jersey City (N.J.) St. Anthony at 10 a.m. Pacific Time,. The Comets are ranked eighth and St. Anthony 46th by ESPN RISE. Mater Dei, ranked 13th in the nation, faces national #4 Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha at 2 p.m. PT. If the Monarchs win their two league games this week, Monday could see Gary McKnight become the winningest coach in state history.
ESPNU will air both games; they are showing four games from the event starting at 8 a.m. PT Monday.
