High school athletic programs are having to get creative in these rough economic times to generate funds. The Los Alamitos baseball program is holding a Texas hold ‘em poker tournament on Jan. 23 that also promises to provide plenty of fun.

The evening’s chip champion will win a new high definition television. Other prizes include Angels and Dodgers tickets, Chivas tickets, ‘hog packs’ from the Naples Rib Company and cash.

A donation of $100 includes a buy-in for the tournament, dinner from the Naples Rib Company and cocktail tickets. There is also a dinner-only option for $15.

Check-in starts at 5 p.m. and play begins 45 minutes later at American Legion Post 716, which is located at 3252 Florista Street in Los Alamitos. For more information or to register, contact tournament chair Tom Panarisi at (562) 822-0123 or visit www.griffinbaseball.org.
