Girls’ Basketball: Best of the West quarterfinal results

Diamond Ranch defeated Summit, 55-43, tonight in a quarterfinal at Ayala’s Best of the West tournament. Chelsea Barnes led Diamond Ranch with 18 points and Janelle Kearney added 13 points.

Summit’s leading scorer, Adrianne Thomas, got in early foul trouble and played only six minutes before fouling out in the fourth quarter. Ashley Weissman and Ana Brodie stepped up for the SkyHawks, contributing 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Diamond Ranch outrebounded Summit, 35-23, and made it to the free throw line 33 times, while Summit only attempted 12 free throws.

Layana White and Julia Tani had 16 points apiece for Bellarmine-Jefferson in a 63-49 victory over Bishop Amat.

BIshop Amat led at the end of the first quarter, 16-13, then Bell-Jeff outscored Bishop Amat by 11 points in the second, and the Lancers never recovered.

Gina Henderson had 13 points and Leticia Galarza scored 12 points for Bishop Amat.

Ayala beat Cajon, 65-48, in an easy victory.

Krishawn Tillett had 19 points, Angela Weber scored 14 and Ariel Marsh had 13 for Ayala.

Kori Walker led Cajon with 11 points.

After trailing by 15 points in the third quarter, Corona Santiago snagged a 70-64 come-from-behind victory over Bishop Montgomery.

Jasmine Lister led Corona Santiago with 27 points and Chrishae Rowe contributed 14 points.

Chelsey Aaron had 30 points and Devon Brookshire scored 16 for Bishop Montgomery.

In tomorrow’s semifinals at Ayala High, Bell-Jeff and Diamond Ranch will face off at 6 p.m., and Corona Santiago and Ayala will meet at 7:30.
