Kirifi Leuta-Taula of Anaheim Servite is one of the best defensive linemen in Southern California when he’s healthy. Two weeks ago, he tried to play in the Pac-5 semifinals against Mission Viejo with a cast around his broken left arm but didn’t last into the second half.

Last Saturday night, in tough playing conditions, he was on the field for much of the game against Huntington Beach Edison, and his presence in the middle lifted the Friars.

‘It’s still fractured,’ he said of his arm, ‘but I couldn’t miss this for the world.’
