Encino Crespi is about to launch a search for a new football coach, but all the Celts need to do is head for Moorpark and ask former Coach Tim Lins to return.

Lins replaced Bill Redell as the Celts’ coach in 1989 and then left in 1999 for Moorpark to be closer to where he lived. Now that his final son is about to graduate from Moorpark, he’d be the perfect candidate to return to the Celts and bring with him his top assistant, John Kidder, a former Crespi JV coach who starred for the Celts on the offensive line.

Lins is a terrific coach and an even better teacher, mentor and leader of young men. The Celts will have to convince him that their school isn’t just about winning games but also developing players on and off the field.

I have a feeling Lins and Kidder might make the switch because they’ve always been Crespi people, so it’s up to the school administration to do its homework.
