The decision to put Crenshaw in the Open Division of the CIF state championship bowl games is now official, and let the debate begin. I think it’s going to be a fun game matching the City Section Division I champion against private school powerhouse Concord De La Salle.

The commissioners finally gave respect to the City Section, something that didn’t happen in 2007, when Birmingham won 13 consecutive games and had a victory over the Pac-5 champion Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits.

Yes, Servite had a stronger schedule, but the bowl matchups are fine. Servite gets to show what it can do in the Division II game. And Gardena Serra gets to show off its talent in Division III. It should be a fun Saturday at Home Depot Center.
