It’s ‘put up or shut up’ time for City Section supporters.

John Aguirre, the assistant commissioner for the City Section, is asking players, coaches and fans to show up Saturday at the Home Depot Center in support of Crenshaw, the first City team ever selected for a CIF state championship bowl game.

The Cougars play Concord De La Salle in the featured 8 p.m. Open Division game.

‘We’d like to see a great turnout,’ Aguirre said.

Under bad weather conditions, the City Section Division I final drew fewer than 2,700 fans last Saturday at the Coliseum.

There’s not many people picking Crenshaw to beat De La Salle, but the 14-0 Cougars just might pull off a surprise. Remember last year, Sacramento Grant wasn’t supposed to defeat Long Beach Poly either.
