Boys’ basketball: Van Nuys loses its coach

Charles White, who guided Van Nuys to the East Valley League championship last season, said Friday he has left the program in a mutual decision with the school administration. He said Athletic Director Dan Levy, who has coaching experience in girls’ basketball, will take over the team.

‘They didn’t like how I was managing the program,’ said White, who spent three years as head coach after a long tenure as an assistant at Sylmar.

Van Nuys is 1-4 this season.
