Thousand Oaks and Reseda Cleveland were engaged in a close, hard-fought opening game of the Westlake Village Oaks Christian tournament today through three quarters, but then the No. 13-ranked Lancers (10-1) took command and pulled away to a 73-46 victory.

Alex Tiffin, Thousand Oaks’ 6-foot-8 center headed to UC Davis, scored 27 points. James Whalen added 17 points. Thousand Oaks will likely play Richmond Salesian on Monday at 8:30 p.m.

The big problem for Cleveland (5-5) was that high-scoring Jason Johnson went scoreless in the second half after scoring 13 points. The game was tied, 35-35, in the third quarter.
