Boys’ basketball: Taft triumphs at Mission Prep tourney

DeAndre Daniels had 17 points, 14 rebounds and seven blocked shots to help Woodland Hills Taft (7-1) defeat FW Ballou from Washington D.C., 65-62, in the championship game of the National Division at the Mission Prep tournament. Pierson Williams also made a major contribution with 19 points.

Daniels was selected the tournament MVP.

In the third place game, Campbell Hall defeated Pasadena, 55-46. Austin McBroom and James Johnson had 22 points each for the Vikings.

Birmingham won the Elite Division title with a 66-40 win over Rio Americano. Sahdi Odu, the tournament MVP, had 25 points.
