Boys’ basketball: Golden Valley wins championship

Santa Clarita Golden Valley won the San Fernando Valley Invitational championship with an 80-70 victory over Burbank. Golden Valley improved to 9-1. Burbank is 7-2.

Trevor Wiseman of Golden Valley was named tournament MVP. He had 21 points.

In the third-place game, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame defeated L.A. Jordan, 64-43. Freshman Jahmel Taylor, who won the tournament three-point shooting contest, had 16 points for the Knights.

In consolation games, Chatsworth Sierra Canyon (7-2), which earlier beat Chaminade and Crespi, knocked off Antelope Valley, 42-41. Michael Cohen had 23 points.

Crespi (5-3) defeated Hart, 59-51, in overtime. Brian Bennett had 14 points for the Celts. Newbury Park (7-4) defeated L.A. University (7-7), 62-48. Braden Brooks had 14 points for University.
