Baseball: Roosevelt promotes assistant coach
Los Angeles Roosevelt has named assistant coach Ray Ruiz its baseball coach, replacing Scott Pearson, who resigned.
Ruiz served as Pearson's top assistant from 2004-06 before leaving for Cantwell Sacred Heart and then returning last season as an assistant. He is a Roosevelt grad.

Any high school, in this case, Roosevelt High will greatly benefit from a prominent alumni who has always practiced and preached the role of a student-athlete. Always stressing studies first before the athlete. Best of luck to coach Ray Ruiz, his coaching staff and the many kids who will benefit on and off the field. Respectfully, LoDUCA

Great hire for the riders.... Ray has an outstanding resume as a coach, and equally outstanding as a player.
