The story keeps getting better for Kate Hansen, a 17-year-old La Canada High student who lives in sunny Southern California but is a step closer to making the 2010 Olympic team in luge.

Over the weekend, Hansen earned a spot on the 2009 Luge World Cup national team, from which the Olympic team will be selected.

World Cup racing will begin on Nov. 20, with four events over the next four weeks in Canada and Europe. Those results will help select the Olympic team.

And Hansen will be away from La Canada doing her best to make an Olympic dream come true.
