Football: It’s prediction time

With so many terrific matchups tonight, I’m going to offer a few predictions.

Dorsey at Crenshaw: The most impressive part of Crenshaw is how the Cougars have been taking it one game at a time, not looking ahead to the City final or CIF state bowl games. They have too many offensive weapons for the Dons.

Huntington Beach Edison vs. Fountain Valley at Cal State Fullerton: Why do people keep picking against Edison? The Chargers didn’t lose any summer passing games and haven’t lost since they put pads on. They have the best team chemistry I’ve seen all season. They’re going to win this one.

Orange Lutheran vs. Anaheim Servite at Cerritos College: I don’t like the fact that Kirifi Leuta-Taula isn’t playing for Servite. He’s a defensive force. But quarterback Cody Fajardo will be the difference maker in this game for Servite.

Carson at Narbonne: Narbonne has the flash with its spread offense, but Carson has the defensive backs and speed to cover the Gauchos’ receivers. I still think Carson is the only team standing in the way of Crenshaw going 14-0. Carson wins this one.

Bishop Amat at Crespi. It’s desperation time for the Celts. They have perhaps the best talent in the Serra League but are only 4-4. Bishop Amat is 8-0. This is my upset special. Crespi wins if it doesn’t get run over by the Lancers’ rushing attack.

Roosevelt vs. Garfield at East L.A. College: These two teams are even. The emotion of the game means it’s flip a coin. Roosevelt has played better in the Eastern League, so I’ll go with the Rough Riders in this one.
