Football: Charter Oak escapes, Muir gains respect
One of the best playoff games Friday was in the Southeast Division, where No. 1-seeded Covina Charter Oak escaped with a 20-19 victory over Pasadena Muir.
Muir trailed, 20-0, in the fourth quarter and closed to 20-19 with four seconds left on a touchdown on fourth-and-18. Then the Mustangs went for a two-point conversion and the win. It failed.
But what a performance by Muir, which served notice it could be a team to watch in 2010, considering there are eight returnees on offense and six on defense.
