I’ll be living blogging from La Puente Bishop Amat tonight, where Santa Ana Mater Dei (6-4) will try to prove its young players are ready to make an impact in the Pac-5 Division playoffs.

The Monarchs have played well at times, teasing their fans. A win over Corona Centennial and close losses to Huntington Beach Edison and Orange Lutheran has let everyone know that Mater Dei is no team to under estimate.

Bishop Amat (9-1) shared the Serra League title with Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. The Lancers do their best when they can run the ball effectively and rely on their kicking game and defense.

For Mater Dei junior quarterback Max Wittek, this is an opportunity to make a statement where he ranks among the top quarterbacks for 2010. He’s 6 feet 4, with a strong arm and running ability, but it’s time to turn potential into results.
