Football: Bishop Amat holds 10-7 halftime lead

November 13, 2009 |  8:45 pm

It feels like Bishop Amat is totally dominating its Serra League finale against Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, but the Lancers have only a 10-7 halftime lead after the Knights struck for a big play in the final minute of the second quarter.

Bishop Amat quarterback Jerry McClanahan has upstaged his more ballyhooed counterpart, completing 11 of 20 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown with one interception. Notre Dame's Ryan Kasdorf was having an awful first half before he connected with Patrick Dayao for a 40-yard touchdown pass with 27 seconds left in the second quarter to pull the Knights within 10-7.

Kasdorf has completed nine of 18 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown.

Both defenses have also had their moments. Bishop Amat has held Notre Dame to 124 total yards, including only eight rushing yards. The Knights have four sacks and an interception.

Notre Dame will get the ball to start the third quarter and could take the lead in a game it is losing in about every conceivable way if the Knights score on their first drive of the second half.
