Football: Big day for Southern Section
The Southern Section football pairings will be released starting at 10 a.m. with the at-large teams. I'm down at the office in Los Alamitos, and they're making a big deal of this, with television cameras, podiums for news conferences and coaches starting to show up to learn their fate.
The big news starts with the at-large teams, and let me be blunt: Encino Crespi fans had better be hoping for a miracle because I don't think they're going to get the lone at-large spot in the Pac-5 Division.
The Pac-5 Division should be another brutally tough bracket. Remember, Mater Dei and Long Beach Poly have not been top teams this season but their reputation and youth can make them dangerous in the playoffs.
I expect Edison to be seeded No. 1, Mission Viejo No. 2 and Servite No. 3.
