Division I scholarships are rare, but you wouldn’t know it by what’s happening at Price on Wednesday morning. Three boys’ basketball players from a school of fewer than 100 students will sign letters of intent with Division I colleges.

Richard Solomon and Allen Crabbe will sign with California and Casey Trujeque will sign with Montana State.

‘Over the course of 13 years, I’ve had about eight or nine students sign [letters of intent], but I’ve never had three at one time,’ Price Coach Michael Lynch said in a statement. ‘This is unprecedented.’

Also unprecedented is the success small-school Price has enjoyed under Lynch. Last year the Knights defeated Chaminade (enrollment: 1,300) in the Southern Section IV-A championship game. Price’s enrollment at the time? Sixty-eight.

Luckily for the Knights, you can have only five on the floor at a time.
