Mark Wahlberg, Kelly Monaco and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will be among the celebrities participating in a celebrity fundraiser basketball game to raise money for Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles.

The game will be held Saturday at L.A. Valley College with doors opening at 2 p.m. and tipoff scheduled for 3 p.m. Tickets range from $15 to $50. Magic Johnson will serve as one of the coaches.

The event is dedicated to Carter Newman-Milic, a 12-year-old girl who was diagnosed with brain cancer in February and had a malignant tumor removed. Her father, Buckley girls’ basketball coach Byrd Newman-Milic, said Carter’s recovery has been slow.

‘A healthy active 11-year-old no longer walks, and though she is getting better and making improvement she has a long way to go to get her pre-surgery life back,’ Byrd Newman-Milic said.
