With its first road game after a 4-0 start, Moorpark will face a Marmonte League rival in Newbury Park tonight at 7.

There’s very much to like about the Musketeers, whom The Times’ Ben Bolch predicted would win tonight’s game.

Though Panthers defensive end Fred Grady thinks the focus needs to be on stopping the run, the Musketeers are also balanced offensively. Quarterback Brody Rohach has a dependable passing game, while tailback Austin Edmonson provides a strong running game that has been the beneficiary of a consistent offensive line (led by tackle Joe Frank, who is committed to Air Force). At this point in the season, The Times’ Eric Sondheimer has listed Moorpark Coach Tim Lins as a top candidate for coach of the year.

It should be a good match-up in any case, with Newbury Park (4-0) boasting a team that hasn’t committed a turnover in its last three games. Quarterback Jake Geringer has thrown for nine touchdowns. Tailback Cameron Roberson, who has committed to Notre Dame, has rushed for 494 yards and five touchdowns.
