The streak is over. Lakewood has come away with a 21-14 victory over Long Beach Poly. The Jackrabbits faced a fourth-and-13 from the Lakewood 32 with just over a minute left, but a trick play failed badly, giving the ball to the Lancers.

Poly didn’t get it back until there was nine seconds left on its own 44. After two incompletions, time had expired, and Lakewood students charged onto the field. Poly’s state-record 80-game Moore League winning streak is over.

Terrance Woods scored the go-ahead touchdown with 9:06 left on a three-yard run. Quarterback Jesse Scroggins kept the drive alive with a 22-yard pass completion on fourth down.
