When Los Angeles Loyola set a Southern Section record with a 35-game win streak in the 1960s, the Cubs’ coach was Mario DiMuro and the standout tailback was Steve Grady.

On Friday night, when West Hills Chaminade plays host to Loyola, the quarterback coach for Chaminade will be Rob DiMuro, Mario’s son, and on the sideline helping coach Loyola as an assistant coach will be Grady.

‘It’s a real neat deal for my family and pulls at our heartstrings,’ Rob DiMuro said.

Mario DiMuro died in 2000. He was 81.

Chaminade is 5-0 and Loyola is 2-3.
