I had a running joke with Valencia Coach Larry Muir all summer. He told me about his secret weapon, junior running back Steven Manfro, but would wave his finger in front of his face, warning me not to say anything.

On Friday night, he unveiled Manfro, and what a performance he had in a 39-36 win over Thousand Oaks. Manfro rushed for 190 yards and caught 13 passes for 145 yards.

Now I understand why Muir has been so excited. Manfro was unstoppable last season for Valencia’s JV team and nothing has changed going up to varsity.
