Crenshaw standout running back DeAnthony Thomas remains questionable for the top-ranked Cougars’ home game against Norco on Friday because of a sprained ankle that kept him on the sideline for the second half of a season-opening victory over Lakewood.

Crenshaw Coach Robert Garrett said Thomas did not practice Tuesday and was receiving treatment this afternoon for an ankle that remained tender.

‘If he doesn’t get better within 24 hours, we won’t even try it,’ Garrett said.

If Thomas is unable to play, the Cougars will rely on sophomores Justin Johnson and Dayvon Allen. Garrett said the duo ‘played like upperclassmen’ against Lakewood.

Garrett said another key player was taken to a doctor today for internal bleeding. The coach declined to give the name of the player, citing privacy concerns.
