Crenshaw receiver Geno Hall suffered a compound fracture of his right ring finger in practice earlier this week. No way Hall would play for the Cougars against Fontana Miller, right? Wrong. Not only did Hall play, but he made several catches to help top-ranked Crenshaw post a 59-12 victory. Talented junior running back DeAnthony Thomas also returned from a sprained ankle that had sidelined him since the Cougars’ season opener against Lakewood, scoring a touchdown and making several defensive plays.

Crenshaw (3-0) plays Riverside North (2-0) on Friday at Riverside King High. The Huskies have posted victories over Los Osos and Kaiser and could post a threat to the Cougars’ bid to go unbeaten and gain a berth in a CIF state championship bowl game.
