The Folk brothers from Woodland Hills keep injecting themselves in the national spotlight. There’s Nick Folk, kicker for the Dallas Cowboys. There’s Greg Folk, who played soccer at UCLA. And there’s Erik Folk, the baby who kicked the winning field goal to beat USC on Saturday for Washington.

All three attended Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. Erik and Nick were proteges of Chris Sailer, a former Notre Dame High and UCLA kicker who has become one of the top private kicking instructors in the Southland.

Notre Dame is the kicking school of the West Coast. I wrote this story seven years ago, and nothing has changed. Besides Folk at Washington, Kai Forbath from UCLA is a Notre Dame graduate.

‘I’m happy for him,’ Forbath said Saturday night after kicking three field goals in UCLA’s 23-9 victory over Kansas State.
