Kevin Johnson, a 6-foot-10 junior center who transferred to Woodland Hills Taft from Gardena Serra, will sit out this season to focus on academics, Athletic Director Mark Drucker said Thursday.

Johnson enrolled at Taft under open enrollment but apparently didn’t move, which makes him ineligible for varsity competition for one season. Taft had two players sit out last season at the varsity level, Bryce Jones and De’Andre Daniels. Both have since accepted scholarships to USC and Texas, respectively.
