Donald Paysinger is expected to replace his older brother Carter as Beverly Hills’ football coach, pending approval from the Beverly Hills Board of Education.

A 1977 Beverly Hills graduate, Donald Paysinger was Santa Monica’s coach from 1998-99, going 4-16. He later was a graduate assistant at San Jose State and coached with the San Francisco 49ers during their training camp in 2004 as part of an NFL minority coaching fellowship program.

Carter Paysinger, the Normans’ coach since 1990, was hired as an assistant principal at the school in the spring but told the Beverly Hills Weekly that he would continue to help call develop game plans and call plays. Beverly Hills, which finished last season 8-4 after losing to Palmdale in a Western Division quarterfinal, will play its opener Sept. 11 at home against Long Beach Jordan.
