The only thing missing was Bud Selig throwing up his hands because he didn’t know what to do.

The Aflac All-American Classic ended in an extra-inning tie Sunday at Petco Park not because the high school all-star teams ran out of pitchers but because it was determined beforehand that the game would go only 10 innings even if the score remained tied.

That’s exactly what happened after Rancho Buena Vista’s Tony Wolters hit a run-scoring triple down the right-field line in the ninth inning to pull the West into a 3-3 tie with the East. Each team scored a run in the 10th inning and the game ended in a 4-4 deadlock.

Wolters was selected the game’s most valuable player after going two for three with two runs scored and a steal.
